IAWBH 2020 Scholarship information

IAWBH is again proud to offer scholarships for PhD student members of the Association to attend the 2020 Conference in Dubai.  Up to two scholarships may be awarded for students from each of the categories below based on the United Nations Country Classifications.  The scholarships will take the following format:

1.     Developed countries: registration for the conference
2.     Transitional countries: registration + £250
3.     Emerging countries: registration + £400

For the purposes of these scholarships, the applicants’ country will be considered as the country in which he/she is doing his/her PhD.  For example, if a Ghanaian national is undertaking their PhD studies in the United Kingdom they will be considered in Category 1 above (i.e. as being from a Developed Country) .

Process, Criteria and Eligibility

Applicants are to apply for the scholarships when submitting their abstract for the 2020 Conference.  A panel comprising 1 IAWBH Board member and 2 co-opted members will assess the applications following the notification of acceptance of oral presentations.

Eligibility will be as follows:

  • The scholarships are open to currently enrolled PhD students who are members of IAWBH; 
  • The applicant is required to provide an official letter on letterhead from their university in support of their application;
  • The applicant will need to provide a 300 – 500 word statement on how attendance at the Conference will advance their research/help their professional development; and;
  • The applicant will need to provide a quote for travel and accommodation.

Scholarships, once approved, will be paid following conference attendance and upon meeting all the requirements below:

  • The awardee having attended the PhD pre-conference workshop;
  • The awardee having attended the Conference and delivered their oral presentation; and
  • Receipts and boarding passes documenting the travel and accommodation being presented to the nominated IAWBH Board member.
